Eric Michael Lucht

February 11, 1990 — April 25, 2021

Chattanooga, TN

Eric Michael Lucht, 31 of Chattanooga, TN and formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was born on February 11,1990 to Dr. Rick Lucht and Cathy (Newton) Lucht. Eric was a 2008 graduate of Heritage Christian High School and earned multiple degrees from Indiana University in the areas of telecommunications, video production and business administration.

Following graduation Eric bravely stepped out of his Indiana home and went west to California to chase his dreams and there he found his passion for photography and hiking. He captured the best in others and nature through photography, film and conversations. While in California he worked with a wide variety of opportunities including Angus Oblong, Happy Madison Production, CAA and for the producer of his favorite childhood movie Sandlot.  Eric traveled the US with RT Productions which brought him to Chattanooga. There he worked as a Senior Digitizing Specialist for Southtree (Legacy Box) where he was a beloved leader and teammate. There is no telling how many families he has directly impacted by repairing the memories of loved ones.

Eric enjoyed supporting his favorite teams the Chicago Cubs, the Indianapolis Colts (Section 220 Boddington’s Society) & Indiana Pacers. His passion for competition and the drive to be the best of the best fueled his love for auto racing, especially Formula 1 and IndyCar. He joined the family tradition of attending the Indianapolis 500 when he was 8 (the 3 day rainout race) and never missed with his dad. Eric also spent a season working for the Cubs learning the ins and outs of Wrigley Field to the delight of his mother.

Eric was a tender hearted and gentle soul who asked for a little but gave so very much. His collection of tribes encircled the globe as tightly and tenderly as his hugs. Even a global pandemic did not diminish his capacity to nourish his relationships with his loved ones, especially his family, A.C.E, CMAG, D&D, Belgarth and his Bluefin Buddies. He was always chasing the beauty of God’s world from sunsets to the Milky Way. We will always remember his light when we look to the stars. We will miss picking up his calls that started with “hey, how’s it going?” and always ending with “ I love you”.

Eric is survived by his devoted parents, beloved brother and best friend Alex and Lauren (Streiff) Lucht, Eric was looking forward to serving as Alex’s Best Man and always will be.  Loving grandparents Dick (PopPop) and Barb Newton, aunts and uncles: Diane and Jeff Tovey, John and Linda Newton, Jim and Carrie Newton, cousins: Jake and Laura Tovey and Carly and Marshall Newton, Goddaughter Lillian Foley, extended family and countless friends especially his treasured soulmate Jasmin.

Eric was preceded in death by his dear paternal grandparents Walter (Opa) and Hertha (Oma) Lucht and his doting maternal grandmother Beverly Newton, whom he named Tauk-Tauk. His loyal cat Kilgore Cat and dog Harley.
