Dr. Emmanuel Kratsios, a resident of Indianapolis since December, 1992, was tragically lost in an automobile accident on Thursday, July 15. A driver under the influence struck his car and took his life in an instant. He was sixty-five years old.
Dr. Kratsios was born in Astoria-Queens, New York on February 22, 1956. He attended Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Elementary School, the Bronx High School of Science and New York University for his Pre-Medical education. He studied medicine at the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki, Greece and returned to New York for his Family Practice Residency at the Catholic Medical Center.
On September 24, 1989, Emmanuel married Irene N. Tittonis of Brooklyn, New York and they moved to Indianapolis three years later. They established his twenty-three year, private Family Practice on the city’s south side. In recent years, he worked in the office of Dr. Clarence Thomas as well as at Fishers Urgent Care Center. Emmanuel was a very dedicated and caring physician, beloved by his patients.
Emmanuel and Irene were founding members of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church. He served on the Church’s Parish Council and also as its President several years ago. Faith, Family, Medicine and Country were of utmost importance to him.
Dr. Kratsios is survived by his wife Irene and their daughter Barbara, a graduate student at the University of Indianapolis. He also leaves behind a cherished brother and sister-in-law, Drs. John and Maria Kratsios, and dear niece, great-niece and nephew—Kaity (Mark) Monroe, Iris Maria Monroe and Michael Kratsios, respectively. Many cousins, extended family and friends also mourn his loss.
Emmanuel’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, July 27 at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church—4550 North Central Avenue, Indianapolis (46205). The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service, at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
