Emma Jean Baker, 76, was called to her heavenly home on November 29, 2017. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her and gave her peace.
Emma was born to the late Howard and Kathryn (Tillman) Clendening, a painter and a homemaker respectively, in Hartsville, TN on September 20, 1941. She was immersed in the Pentecostal Church that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She was an active member of the House of Refuge Church where she loved to sing and found great joy being in service with her family and friends. Emma was blessed with a large and loving family. She married, Dwight Baker, on March 20, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Emma helped raise her four children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to be faithful and committed. Emma loved children and worked at Dena’s Daycare for 22 years until her retirement. Emma is survived by her husband, Dwight; her sons Vince (Brenda), Shannon (Stephanie); and her daughters Sheena (Ron) Davis and Deana (Russell) Soots; her 5 grandchildren Veronica Bryant, Hilary Soots, Lindsey Bianchi (Dan), Zachary Baker, and Logan Soots; and her sister Jackie Marie Lack. She is preceded in death by her sister, Georgia (Punkie) McKee, brother Paul Lonzo Clendening and her parents. Visitation will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 from 4PM-8PM at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park 425 N. Holt Rd. INDPLS, IN 46222. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 11AM-1PM with a funeral service beginning at 1PM. Emma will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
