Emase Jean Francois was born in Thomassique (Haiti) to the late Gerard Jean Francois and Oxanie Jean on May 28, 1949. As the eldest daughter of a family of five, she faced many challenges and difficulties. The rough edges of life shaped her to become a woman of endless strength and extraordinary courage. As a single mother, she has raised nine (9) children through hard work and determination.
In December 2006, she immigrated to the State of Massachusetts to be reunited with her first daughter, Marie Ange Isidor. She worked tirelessly as a babysitter and has managed to move six of her children to the United States in 2017 and 2018.
As a caring mother, she constantly thought about her two other children left behind in the Dominican Republic. She was continuously working to find ways and means to bring them to the US soil. Her dream to reunite them with the whole family came to a halt with her sudden death on March 30, 2023 at 6:45pm at the Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
In 2019, Emase was relocated to Indianapolis where she continued to perform in the babysitting field. Many working parents were very satisfied with her work and entrusted her to watch over and take care of many other children. Due to her compassionate heart, people started calling her affectionately Granma or Mammie Emase.
Emase was such a sympathetic babysitter; two days after her passing, two parents went to drop off their daughters so that she could take care of them, as scheduled. It was at that moment they learned of the inadvertent news of her passing.
Emase is gone, but her memory will be alive in the hearts of her children. Her unwavering courage and her hard-working mentality are dignified values that her children and grandchildren must embrace and pass on to the next generation.
She is survived by her children: Marie Ange Isidor, Marie Solange Jean François, Evens André, Saindouard Abel, Jean Edouard Jean Francois, Monel Jean Francois, Paulette Paul, Paulin Paul, Davidson Juste, and by a host of grandchildren.
