Elsie Mae Stenacker, 87, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017. Elsie was born in Vernon, CT on February 8, 1930 to Kerwin and Cora Elliott. Elsie graduated from Rockville High School in 1947and went to work for the Connecticut Power & Light Company. Elsie was married on March 4, 1951 in Rockville, CT to Mark W. Kibbe, and they moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1965. Elsie was a homemaker until she began working as a teller at Merchants Bank and then as a secretary for the Gene B. Glick Company. Elsie married Jack L. Stenacker in Indianapolis, IN on September 11, 1976, and they spent many memorable years travelling between Indiana and Florida, until his passing in 1990. Elsie was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church and an avid Colts and Pacers fan. Elsie loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s music performances, baton competitions, school programs, and sporting events, as well as any time spent with her family and friends.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Kerwin and Cora (Lehrmitt) Elliott; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Werkhoven; and husband, Jack L. Stenacker.
Elsie is survived by son, Mark E. (Sharon) Kibbe; daughter, Donna Leary-Snider; step-son, Jack (Barbi) Stenacker; grandchildren, Mindy Schultz, Steve (Mary Jo) Stenacker, Deb (Brad) Rusk, David Stenacker, Matthew Leary, Laura (Joe) Donaldson, Amanda (Brandon) Ferrill, Erika Leary, Kristina Snider, and Scott Kibbe; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews, David Werkhoven, Dale Werkhoven, Wayne Smith, Scott Smith, and Russell Smith; niece, Kim Jenack; brother-in-law, Donald Smith and sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith.
Funeral services will be private, with interment at Washington Park North Cemetery, in Indianapolis, IN. Elsie's family requests that donations be made in her memory to The Salvation Army. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North.
