Elmer Lee Griebelbauer, 93, of Indianapolis passed away on June 28, 2020.

Elmer was devoted to GOD, his family, and his country.  He served proudly in the Navy during WWII, and was dedicated to his family his entire life.  He dropped out of school to care of this terminally ill mother and in the past few years his main focus has been caring for this wife Edith.

Elmer was a Journeyman Toolmaker at Western Electric for 35 years.  His career enabled him to enjoy traveling around this amazing country that he loved.  He traveled with his family or to see his family in many different locations.  While not traveling he spent many hours gardening, working with his honey bees, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with the love of his life, his wife of 70 years.

His church was a place to praise his GOD, fellowship with others, and meet new friends.  He was one of those people who never met a stranger.  He was kind, friendly, and helpful to all he met and usually left people with a smile on their faces.  The world was a kinder place with him in it!

He is survived by his wife, Edith Alice Griebelbauer (Waggoner); his children, Glenda Ann Anderson, David Lee Griebelbauer (Dawn), Holly Sue Cunningham (Greg), Laura Jane Walker (Calvin), Elaine Ann Paugh (Robert), and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (Smith), his two brothers Richard and Willis Schmidt, and his sister, Mary Evans (Schmidt).

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 11AM-1PM at Zion United Church of Christ, 8916 E Troy Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46239. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1PM with graveside military honors following. Elmer will be laid to rest in Orchard Hill Cemetery.
