Ella Juanita Fox, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday 11/3/24 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Warsaw, KY, Juanita lived a long, fulfilling life marked by a warmth, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and community. She was the devoted spouse of William R. Fox, Jr (Bill) for 62 years prior to his death 10/14/14, and a loving mother to 3 children: William R. Fox III (Renita), Jeffrey A. Fox (Julie), and Cyndi Freeman. She was also a proud grandmother of 9, and great-grandmother of 17, as well as a cherished friend and neighbor to many. Juanita’s life was filled with simple joys – she loved gardening (especially tending to Bill’s beloved roses), exercising/walking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Known for her gentle spirit and generous heart, she touched the lives of everyone she met.
After graduating from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 1952, she amassed an impressive 40-year nursing career, the bulk of which was 24 years at Methodist Hospital (her final resting place). Two of her grandchildren (Holly & Brittney) have followed her on the path of nursing.
She was a dedicated member of Speedway Christian Church. She had an enduring faith and was known for her compassionate nature and wise counsel. Juanita was soft-spoken, but tough. Her life was a beautiful example of love, grace, and resilience, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at Flanner & Buchanan (2950 North High School Rd, Speedway, IN 46224) on Thursday 11/7/24. Visitation will be held 10:00-1:00. There will be a brief Nursing Honor Guard ceremony at 1:00, followed by a funeral service. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society @ lls.org.
Juanita will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
