Elizabeth Mercho Khamis

Elizabeth Mercho Khamis, 51, passed away after a short 2 ½ month battle with (lung) cancer on February 10, 2022, surrounded by family with hands held close.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Elizabeth was a graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit School and Purdue University with a B.A., Education. She loved inspiring and teaching children through her work as an Elementary Teacher and Educational Consultant. A lifelong learner, she received a BS, Accounting from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Purdue University in 2016. As a Business Relationship Manager at Chase Bank, she dedicated her career to championing the dreams of her clients and coworkers.

Above all, Liz loved her family. Her husband and children were her greatest pride. Liz never met a stranger and always thought of others. She was deeply committed to her community and had fierce enthusiasm for Lawrence Township, Purdue University and Colts football.

Liz always dreamed about changing the world and her family and friends take comfort in knowing that her piece of the world is better because she was in it.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, William Henry Khamis, her 4 children, Billy (Lakin), John, Nick, their significant others and Grace; her 4 siblings John (Pilda), James (Jaime), Jennifer (Rich) Mercho Reidy and Nicole (Carl) Mercho Sibilski, and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna (Jerpe) Mercho and Dr. Jean Pharon Mercho.

Funeral arrangements:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 18, 11:00 am at Holy Spirit at Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037. The visitation is Thursday, February 17 from 5 – 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220. A Mercy Meal will take place at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church after the burial.
