Elizabeth A. Frazier

Elizabeth Ann Frazier passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born November 9, 1934, in Muncie, IN to the late Roy and Annie Swank. Elizbeth was a graduate of Muncie Central High School in 1953. She went on to graduate from Ball State Teacher College with Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Later she graduated from Indiana University with a Master’s degree in Home Economics.

Following graduation from Ball State she was employed by Speedway Public School to teach Home Economics where she taught for two years before going to teach in the Indianapolis Public Schools.

While at Speedway High School, she dated and in December 1958 she married Edward Frazier, a fellow teacher. They bought a house in Speedway in which they lived for 54 years. Elizabeth retired from teaching to start a family. Elaine Alice was born in 1963, and Eric Lewis was born in 1964.

While raising a family, Elizabeth helped with activities for the children, including being active with Girl Scouts and serving as a den mother for Cub Scouts.

Elizabeth was active at Speedway United Methodist Church including serving on many different committees. She became a long-time serving Treasurer for the church and later became the newsletter editor. Using her writing and research abilities Elizabeth wrote the Fifty-year history of Speedway Methodist for which she received an award from The Indiana Religious History Association.

After the children were in school, Elizabeth joined the workforce. Her first employment was with a Baptist Church and then the regional office of the United Church of Christ. From there she worked in the international office of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, most of the time working with finances of the organizations.

With the urging of her mother-in-law, Zelda Frazier, Elizabeth started working on genealogy of the family. After much study, research and walking through graveyards she published a bound volume. She went on to research and publish a family history of other portions of the family.

Elizabeth preceded in death by her parents Annie and Roy Swank and her brother Lewis Swank.

She is survived by her husband Edward Frazier; daughter Elaine Lohroff; son Eric Frazier; and granddaughters Abbie Thom, Sarah Lohroff, and Hannah Lohroff.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Speedway United Methodist Church at 5065 W. 16th Street in Indianapolis, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Elizabeth was laid to rest in the Union City Cemetery in Union City, Indiana.
