Elizabeth E Storey

Elizabeth Erzsébet Storey, 84, of Indianapolis, IN passed away January 16, 2022. She was born July 4, 1937 in Papa, Hungary to the late Karoly Lampert and Maria Vajda. Elizabeth immigrated to the United States in 1956 with her husband first husband George Kovacs. She worked for Western Electric which became AT&T for 20 years before retiring then went on to work for Roche Diagnostics 10-15 years before retiring again. After realizing she still needed something to do, she became a caregiver for Justice Inc. retirement community until really retiring in 2019. Elizabeth remarried in 1983 to Eugene Storey and had 20 years before his passing in 2003. Many will remember her for work ethic, witty remarks, and saying exactly what she was thinking without any hesitation. She had many hobbies she was proud of including being an amazing seamstress and cook. Elizabeth sewed clothes for her son Tom and granddaughter Brandi. She loved her house in historic Irvington and always had a beautiful garden and was known for her green beans, which would turn into delicious green bean casserole every holiday. Elizabeth enjoyed playing slot machines at the casino, making wine, and always staying busy. She loved to travel and would happily drive her granddaughter Brandi back and forth from Louisiana to Indiana. Elizabeth loved her family with all of her heart and would do anything for them. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by so many.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; first husband George Kovacs; second husband Eugene Storey; sister; and son Thomas Kovacs Sr.

She is survived by her grandchildren Brandi (Jeremiah) Macer and Thomas (Karyssa Patrick) Kovacs II; step grandchildren Chris (Kim) Barnett and Josh (Tara) Barnett; great grandchildren Kayla (Daymeon Hamilton) Barnett, Brynn Barnett, Noah Barnett, Eli Macer, Zeke Macer, Sophia Barnett, and Ella Barnett; and daughter-in-law Mary Barnett.

Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Storey. Visitation will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 4p-8p at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral will be held Tuesday, January 25 at 12p with burial at Washington Park East Cemetery to follow.
