Elizabeth E. Schoppenhorst

Elizabeth Eileen Guion Schoppenhorst, age 94, on Sunday the 16th of January 2022, took an afternoon nap when her late husband Donald asked her to join him in the penthouse suite in the condo. She is survived by her three sons, Norman and Suzanne Schoppenhorst, Allen Schoppenhorst and Gary Schoppenhorst, 5 Grandchildren Kathie Morris, Greg Shelley, Patrick Schoppenhorst, Sara and Tom Wright, Anna and Wes Halsey, 5 Great-grandchildren:  Chloe Wright, Shiloh Wright, Astrid Halsey, William Halsey, and Zach Morris. And many, many “adopted” families and children around her, she was everyone's mother and grandmother.   In her youth, Betty sang in the church choir at Bethel Methodist Church, where she met her husband Donald. She worked at JC Penny and in the cafeteria of School 79. Later in life, after raising her three sons, she would work as a seamstress for a small drapery company. Betty and Don both enjoyed square dancing and in later life, they traveled across the country. She was always active in the church, playing the handbells with the choir and helping with notifying the congregation of the parishioner’s prayer concerns. Betty was also a feeder of small animals, an avid fan of Indy car racing, and completely fascinated by anything related to space and spaceflight.
