Elizabeth "Betty" Hofmann

Elizabeth “Betty” Hofmann, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Shelbyville, Indiana, on Friday, April 15, 2022.

She was born on April 10, 1941 in Indianapolis to Frank and Elizabeth Gootee.

Betty was a 1959 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School and a 1996 graduate from Ivy Tech Community College.

She worked at Gringo’s Taco House as a manager, System Builders as their office manager, and retired from Community Hospital North in the Med Surge Unit as an LPN.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, David A. Hofmann; children, Cindy Gerlach (Tom), Tony Hofmann (Ruth Ann), Barbara Hartl (Mark), Ann Schmitzer (Paul), Matthew Hofmann (Marlo), Deb Black (Robert), Linda Demaree; nephew, Mark Pfeiffer (Adina); 14 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Gootee Pfeiffer Vaughn.

Her Funeral Mass will take place 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, 550 North Rural Street, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
