Elizabeth "Betty" B. Detty

Elizabeth B. Detty (aka Betty, Grandma, and Gigi) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 29, 2021 at the age of 98.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie S. Lavely (Jim) and son Robert D. Detty (Nancy). She is also survived by four grandchildren Robyn (Mike) Wauligman, Ashley (Brett) Buhl, Jennifer “Little Betty” (Andrew) Chalko, and Brett (Jennifer) Detty; as well as eleven great-grandchildren Drew, Tate, Mila, Kennedy, Finley, Will, Madden, Graham, Hunter (due in March), Nora, and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Glenn Detty Jr; her parents, and her brother Rev. William (Margaret) Forster Jr.

She left behind quite the legacy.  She was a lady of class and elegance even in her last days.  She referred to herself often as a Tough Old Bird. She was an excellent cook, loved to read, and loved hanging out with the family. She touched many people in her 98 years and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 5 from 11 AM – 1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis.  Funeral services will begin at 1 PM.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
