Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Goodman, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
She was born on November 22, 1945 in Litchfield, IL to the late John D. and Augustine R. (Spernoga) Mifflin. Betty moved to Indianapolis as a young girl and attended St. Philip Neri Catholic School. She graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1963 and soon after married the love of her life, Jack L. Goodman. They celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death in 2002. Betty enjoyed being busy and worked many jobs. She was the head custodian for Lawrence Township Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 2003. Following her retirement, she worked in the Bakery at Wal-Mart. Betty loved horses and would barrel race them competitively. When her age prevented her from riding horses, she enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting her grandchildren in their activities. Betty was an animal lover and was devoted to the care of her dogs, Marvin and Girl. She was a longtime member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church; and a selfless and generous person.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Beverly) Goodman and Charles Goodman; grandchildren, Cody Goodman, Joseph Goodman, Aeron (Mikaela) Goodman, Merissa Goodman, Andrew Goodman; and great-granddaughter, Hazel Francesca Goodman. Betty is also survived by her siblings, John Mifflin, Maureen Parr, Steve Legg; former daughter-in-law, Randa Good; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Jack; grandson, Jesse Gross and his mother, Maria Hodges (who Betty loved as a daughter-in-law); and sister, Rose Wallace.
