Elena Terpinas Lea was born October 6, 1930 in Frankfort, Indiana. She made Indianapolis her home after marrying her husband, Francis K. Lea, Jr. Elena had been a current resident of Robin Run Retirement Village until her death on December 24, 2020.
Loving wife, Mother and friend, Elena graduated 1953 from Indiana University with an undergraduate degree in Zoology. She later received her Master’s Degree in Education in 1975 from IU. She worked as a substitute teacher and then Media Specialist at Westlane Junior High School.
She was an active church member at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church for 30+ years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and helping with church programs.
Elena enjoyed all forms of art and crafts, but especially, found her joy in watercolors and charcoal sketching. She loved to expand her artistic flair by taking classes in many art disciplines; oil painting, ceramics etc. After retiring, she traveled with her husband in their Airstream travel trailer across the United States.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis K. Lea Jr., her parents, Michael Naum & Aglaia (Agnes) Kardaleva Terpinas, and her brothers, Thomas & Peter Terpinas.
Survivors: sons – Michael (Diana) Lea of Columbus, Ohio, Mark (Barbara) Lea of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, daughter – Eleni (Paul) Watson of Monroe, Georgia. Grandchildren: Rachel (Alex) Peimbert, Hunter Lea, Ian Lea, Michael Watson and Richard Watson.
Private Family Service will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd W Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46228. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19. Interment will be at Washington Park North Cemetery of Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the (Indianapolis Scottish Rite 32o Masonic Lodge) Children’s Dyslexia Center of Indianapolis, 650 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46204.
