Eleanor Louise Madsen, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away December 9th, 2022. She was born August 3rd, 1939, in Elizabeth, Virginia, to parents John and Esther Houchins.
She worked several jobs throughout her life— as a receptionist at Community Hospital East and a cake decorator at Roselyn Bakery.
Eleanor was strong, loving woman. She was a valued member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW and the Shriners for many years. Eleanor always had a huge heart for animals, rescuing strays as often as she could. She was a huge fan of women’s collegiate softball. Above all, Eleanor loved being with her family.
She is survived by her children Debbie Reed and Don (Jamie) Madsen; grandchildren Shelby (Bryant) Beckwith, Stephanie Madsen, Whitney (Shawn) Ransdell, Brittany (Justin) Phillips; and great-grandchildren Charlee Phillips and Addison Ransdell.
Besides her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Robert Madsen Sr.; and son Robert “Bobby” Madsen Jr.
Eleanor will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery, with a graveside service very soon (date to be determined).
