Elaine Machado

Elaine Machado, 89, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2021. Memorial services will be announced for a future date to be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas.

Elaine was born in Trenton, NJ and graduated with a BSN degree from Mercer Hospital College of Nursing. She met her husband of 58 years, Dr. Gaston Machado, while in medical school. Surgical residencies took them to New York, Dallas, and Austin. In 1958, they moved to Arlington, TX where they spent 35 years where Elaine worked as a surgical nurse. They retired permanently to their longtime second home on South Padre Island, Texas in 1992.

Elaine enjoyed family, friends, fishing, playing bridge, watching birds on the water, reading her Kindle and her dogs. She loved serving in the church and being a Eucharistic minister.

Her surviving family members include:

Daughter Ann Sandoval (Ron) and her sons Ryan (Monica) and Trevor. Great Grandchildren Jacob and Isaiah.

Daughter Lisa Herrman (Scott) and her son Andrew and daughter Devon (Chase). Great grandchild Selah.

Daughter Priscilla Zotti (Steve) and daughters Caroline, Katherine and Kendall.

Son Frank Machado (Nita) and sons Hunter, Chris, Alex and Chad.

Son Bo Machado and daughters Kristen and Kelley.
