Effie Konduris

Effie Konduris, 92 of Carmel, IN, died Tuesday, June 14th, 2022. Effie was born on July 5th ,1929 in Kalamata, Greece to Nikos and Katerina (Katsimaglis) Tsatsakis.

Effie came to Chicago, IL in 1948 at the age of 19 to finish her studies. Here she met her late husband, Kosmos Alexander Konduris. Shortly after, they took over their family’s hotel in Indiana where they started their family together.

Once settled in Indiana, Effie revolved her life around raising and bettering her family. Whether it was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, or the people who were not even related but she still considered family. She’s created generations of love and success that will never be forgotten.

Effie was self-employed, where she owned and operated several food service companies throughout her lifetime, which included Hellas Cafe and Athens’s on 86th. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

She’s left countless legacies behind, but we will never forget her for bringing the true taste of Greece to the Midwest.

Effie was preceded in death by her husband Kosmos Alexander Konduris and sister-in-law Dorothy (Gene) Darnell.

Effie is survived by her children, George (Beate) Konduris, Nick (Chris) Konduris, Tina Konduris, Kathy Tuttle (Tim), Dora Konduris; Kosta Protopapadakis; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.

Calling and Services for Effie Konduris will be Monday, June 20, 2022 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3500 West 106th Street Carmel, IN 46032, from 9-11am. followed by the funeral service beginning at 11 am. in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers, IN9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Luncheon Reception at Maggiano’s 3550 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
