Edwin S. Harris

Edwin Seymour Harris, 92, of Camby passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019.  He is predeceased by is beloved wife Mildred “Scottie” (Bell) Harris.  He is survived by his children Scott (Laura) Harris, Randy Harris and Laura (Arthur) Ibers.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Rachel Ibers, Jonathan Ibers, Mitchele Harris, Colin Harris, Evan Harris and Tobias Harris.

Born in Ashland, KY to Edwin and Mary Amelia (Brown) Harris, he moved to Middletown Ohio in 1930.  He graduated from Middletown High School in 1945, and joined the U.S. Air Force (Army Air Corps) in 1946.  He proudly served in the European Theater Operations from 1947-1948.

Following his military service, he attended Denison University, became a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated with a degree in Physics in 1952.  After attending State University of Iowa for graduate studies in 1953-1954, he was employed by the Armco Steel Corporation in Middletown Ohio as a metallurgist and statistician.  He retired from Armco in 1990.

In 1976 he was the founding president of the Middletown Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, and held that position until 1989.

After retirement, he and Scottie moved to Camby, IN.  They enjoyed many winter seasons in Mesa, AZ, and Ed cultivated his love of woodworking, casual golf, gardening and being a grandfather.

Services will be held at Grace Church in Camby on Sunday January 5th at 3pm.  Burial will be the following day in the Lexington Cemetery in KY.
