Edward Michael Schmidt, 74, of Carmel died July 31st due to complications from Multiple System Atrophy. Mike was born January 13th 1943 in Indianapolis to William E. and Katherine E. Schmidt.
He graduated from Scecina High School in 1961, where he was a standout All-City football player. He briefly attended Indiana Central College (now UIndy), where he also excelled at football. In the 1960s and 70s he became a successful local and national print and television model. Later he started Eagle Security Company, from which he retired in the early 2000s. Over the years he served his community by volunteering as a firefighter and as a police officer for the cities of Lawrence and Sheridan Police Departments and for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Claire, his sisters Pamela Brand (Jack), Patricia Price (Mike), and Carol Clemens (Ed); five children: Gregory Schmidt (E. Smith), Christopher Schmidt (Molly), Brian Schmidt (Angela), Daniel Schmidt (Christine), and Andrew Singer (Jamie); and seven grandchildren, Emma, William, Joseph, Elizabeth, Harrison, Lucille, and Pauline.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
