Edith May Young, 90 of Indianapolis, IN was born August 6, 1926 and passed away November 10, 2016. She was born in Kyrock, Kentucky to Ezra and Lona Higgs, who precede her in death. Edith was a very devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was an avid Cubs fan but most of all, she loved dogs. She is known for her favorite saying, “I don’t beat around the bush, I go through it”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Lee Napper and Roy Young, and her son, Jerry Napper. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Joan Bailey, Vicky (Allen) Cooke, Lona Lumpkin, Penny (Jay) Moore, Melissa (Tim) Hynes Woodall, Kevin “Kdon” Napper, Anthony “Bird” Napper and Robert “Sugie” Napper. She is also survived by her brothers, Ezra Higgs, Jr., David Higgs, Albert Higgs and Johnny Higgs as well as 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit from 4-8 PM Monday, November 14, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis 46229. The funeral service will be at 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral center. Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association.
