Edith Marie Deckard

Edith (Edie) Marie Short-Deckard, age 91 passed from this life on October 3, 2020.  She lived in Lawrence, Indiana.

Edith was born on June 11, 1929 in Booneville, Kentucky to Alpha Roberts Short and Kelly Short.  On July 1, 1955, she and Rondle Deckard were married in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Edith was a loving and devoted wife, being married to Rondle for 65 years.

She was a loving mother Eddie Short, Joyce Deckard, Ron (Debbie) Deckard and Billy (Nikki) Deckard.  She is survived by her children, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister Geraldine Williams and brother Kelly Short, Jr.  She was preceded in death by her mother Alpha Short, father Kelly Short, Sr., sister Christine Epperson, brother Hargis Short, daughter-in-law Cindy Short and grandson Allen Hornick.

She was co-owner of Raintree Florist with her daughter Joyce.  In retirement, Edie enjoyed traveling all over the United States.  She and Rondle visited all the states but three.  She also enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, birds and gardening.  She will be remembered for her love of family, her unconditional love to others and touching many lives for the good.

Visitation will be at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East Friday, October 9^th from 4-8pm.  The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 10^th at 1pm with an one hour visitation from 12-1pm.

Edith will be greatly missed by many!
