Edith Eva Del Cecato

Edith “Edie” Del Cecato of Indianapolis passed away November 22 at the age of 90.

She was born in Orlando, Florida on April 6, 1931.  She grew up in Florida until 1968 and then moved to Ohio until 1987 then returning to Florida. She moved to Indiana into Westminster Village North in 2014 following the death of her husband where she resided until her passing.  She had many good friends at Westminster and was known as the “social butterfly”.

Edie was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed many hobbies including Euchre, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune, bowling and square dancing.  She will be remembered for being comical but so caring and kind. She was a good friend and loved her time with her family enjoying picnics at the beach and family get-togethers.  She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Barbara McQuinn (Warren), Nancy Brunner (Keith), Phyllis Del Cecato (Ron), Carolyn Rauscher (Glenn), Deborah “Happy” Raehn, John Shafter, and Bill Tinsley (Donna); brothers Harmon Edenfield (Frances) and Cecil Edenfield (Brenda); brothers-in-law Rudy Castillo, John Radu and John Del Cecato; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband Pete Del Cecato of 52 years; mother Bessie Edenfield; father Harry Ziegler; brother Julius Ziegler; sisters Helen Brown and Mary Castillo; son-in-law Sid Raehn; and sister-in-law Flora Radu.

A Memorial Service is being planned at Westminster Village North.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring of 2022 in Port Orange, Florida.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st St #100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 in memory of her sisters.
