Edgar A. Evans, 76, of Davenport, FL, passed away on December 20, 2023. He was born to Carl and Georgia Evans in Kodak, KY on May 30,1947. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1964, after which he enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served faithfully for 3 years and was honorably discharged on August 11, 1967. He worked 14 years at Chrysler before becoming self-employed for 38 years.
Ed was married to the love of his life, Diana, for almost 49 years. He was a faithful and loving husband, wonderful father and great friend to many.
As a member of Deer Creek Golf & Country Club in FL, he played golf 5 days a week and scored two hole-in-ones. He enjoyed weekly games of Texas Hold'em and social gatherings. He loved his country and was a known conservative.
He is survived by his wife Diana; children Kirt VanLue, Kelly (Rodney) Gross; grandchildren Mason Crum, Drake Crum, Josh VanLue, Zach VanLue, Ashley (Brady) Dreher and Ryan Nebel; great grandson due April 2024; siblings Carlene Bearden, James (Sherry) Evans, Sandra (Randen) Husmann and Donna (James) McKinney; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Lakeview Chapel), 4180 Westfield Rd, Westfield, IN 46062, with Pastor Toph Elkins of Abundant Life Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the V.F.W. Military Rites Team. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
