E. Tim Foley

E. Tim Foley passed away at home on July 5, 2022 at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 19, 1941 in Indianapolis to the late Edward T. and Evelyn Foley.

Tim is a 1959 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School.  He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from IU and a JD at IU School of Law in 1976. He served as a Police Officer and Detective for 50+ years for IMPD. He was a member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed coaching his children in their sports, weightlifting, and traveling with his family.

Tim served in the US Army.  He had a long and distinguished career as a police officer for the city of Indianapolis, appointed to the Indianapolis Police Department on October 7, 1963 and served in multiple positions on the Department until his retirement in April of 2014. He was the third of three generations of the Foley family who served the city of Indianapolis. His grandfather Dan Foley served 48 years, a record until is grandson Edward “Tim” Foley broke it with 50.  His dad Ed Foley, son of Dan and father of E. Tim was a veteran firefighter.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia A. Foley; children Mike Foley (Kat) and Jennie Foley; grandchildren Isaac, Allison, Edward, Isabella, and Princeton Foley; and cousins – the Tinder and Dearing families and the Foleys in Ireland.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 12 from 4 to 8 PM in Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 10 AM in St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 8155 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
