E. Roger Hopkins of Camby, Indiana passed away January 4, 2025, at 90 years old. He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on Mach 28, 1934 to the late Jonas Clay and Beulah Mai (Jones) Hopkins. Roger worked at Bank One for over 36 years prior to his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Roger was a longtime member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1967, member of the Indianapolis Masonic Lodge #669 F &AM, and he enjoyed watching the baseball games at Decatur Central High School and Franklin College, and he loved being with his family. He was loved and will be missed dearly by many. Roger is survived by his children, Sheila (Marc) Larson, Marty (Terri) Hopkins, his grandchildren, Jessica (Phillip) Cadle, Marcus (Sara) Larson, Jonas (Amanda) Hopkins, Jamila (Travis) Jasgarszewski, his 10 great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mearl, his sisters, Virginia Whitney, Hallie Woods, Hester Herald, Snowie Hire, Ruby Willhoite, Velva Marsh, and his brothers, William, Arthur, Jimmie, McDonald, and J.B. Hopkins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 11:00am-1:00PM at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. Harold Sullivan will be officiating the service. Roger will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana following the service.
