E. Kathleen Combs

Elizabeth Kathleen (Denison) Combs, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 4, 2017, surrounded by her family. Kathleen was born on January 6, 1922 in Lebanon, Kentucky to Virgil and Celestia Denison. She graduated from Ben Davis High School.

Kathleen worked at the Great A&P Tea Company’s regional office, Firestone and Indiana Blue Cross Blue Shield. She lived many years on the Mississippi coast before returning to Indianapolis.

Kathleen is survived by her two sons, Jesse Combs Jr. and John (Becky) Combs; two daughters, Peggy (Tom) Nichols and Susie (Kevin) Flohr; sister, Louise Durham; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Combs Sr.; parents; and two brothers, Benjamin and Virgil Denison.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Franciscan Hospice House and the Franciscan Visiting Nurse Service.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11am, also at the funeral center. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
