E. Fern Whisman

Fern Whisman (Lykins), age 93, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. She was born on February 5, 1924 as the daughter of Bruce and Martha (Hatfield) Lykins.

Fern married Melvin “Dee” Whisman and became a loving wife and mother. She was very passionate about politics and her family. She loved line dancing, cooking, watching television and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Fern will be lovingly missed by her children, Cindy (Gary Henson) Whisman, Danny (Marcia) Whisman and Kim Alan (Roger Meyer) Whisman; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Fern was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and granddaughter, Shannon Marie Carbone.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 3pm until 6pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm, also at the funeral center.

Memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240, or envelopes will be available at the funeral center during services.
