E. Anne Miner

E. Anne Miner, 82, Indianapolis, passed away April 30, 2018.  She was born February 13, 1936, the daughter of the late Russell and Eleanor (Taylor) Fleming.  She grew up in New Castle, Indiana and attended Butler University.  While at Butler Anne was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, serving as president her senior year.  She graduated from Butler magna cum laude in 1957 and married William R. Miner on July 20, 1957.

Anne started her career as a teacher with Indianapolis Public Schools right up until the arrival of their first son James William in 1964 followed a few years later by the arrival of their second son John David.  After taking a break to raise her 2 sons Anne returned to teaching at Forest Dale Elementary in the Carmel Clay Schools.

In addition to teaching, Anne was a member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church and Butler Alumni Association.  Anne enjoyed her ladies Bridge club, ladies Euchre Club, and ladies book club.  In her golden years Anne spent winters in Florida soaking up the sun while walking the beaches.  During the summers Anne balanced time at the lakes in northern Indiana and attending jazz festivals.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William R. Miner; son, James W. (Karen) Miner; two grandchildren, Eric and Jenifer; and a brother, Rev. David (Joan) Fleming.  She was preceded in passing by her son, John David Miner.

A memorial gathering will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences may be shared by visiting flannerbuchanan.com.
