Dr. Martin R See

Martin R. See, M.D. passed away on September 16, 2017 after a short illness. He was surrounded by loving family and friends-his wife, three children, mother, five siblings, in-laws, and friends at the time of his passing.

He was born on November 10, 1951 in Frankfort, IN to Patricia (Martin) and the late Richard L. See. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up in Elkhart, IN, where he attended St. Vincent de Paul School and Elkhart High School, followed by four years at Wabash College, from which he graduated cum laude.

Martin attended IU School of Medicine and completed his residency at St. Vincent Hospital, after which he did a three-year fellowship in cardiology, also at St. Vincent. After practicing with Meridian Medical Group at Methodist Hospital for several years, he joined Northside Cardiology at St. Vincent Hospital in 1986. He remained with the group through its many changes as he practiced invasive and transplant cardiology and finished his cardiology career at the St. Vincent Heart Hospital of Indiana.

Martin was a gifted photographer who honed his craft by attending photo courses in the western United States; he was an accomplished cook of Italian delicacies, a talented guitarist, and an avid follower of weather phenomena, a runner and golfer. He was active in local community theatre as a lighting and sound technician. He was a loyal friend and, most of all, loved children.

Martin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Brennan) and three children: Kevin (Elizabeth), Tim (Meredith), and Susannah (Blake) Reel. He loved being “Bopa” to four spirited grandsons ages 5-1.

Other survivors include his mother; brothers, Michael, Jim (Zalma), John (Patty); sisters, Margaret (Lucian) Lupinski, Maribeth (Dan) Sellers; in-laws Jim and Colleen Brennan; ten nephews and two nieces.

Calling for Dr. See will be Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 3:00pm-5:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00am held in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 1870 W. Oak St. Zionsville, IN.
