Dr. David Stevens Jones, 78, Carmel, passed away November 3, 2016 from complications from diabetes and kidney disease. Born September 13, 1938 in Detroit, MI, David was the only son of Edgar and Eleanor (Stevens) Jones. David received a bachelor’s degree from Albion College in Michigan [1959], a Masters of Science in microbiology from Michigan State University [1962], and a Ph.D. in Pathology from the University of Western Ontario [1969].
David’s career spanned both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors where he retired as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs from Hollister, Inc. in 2002. Much respected by his peers and co-workers, David also had the opportunity to work on several innovative and life saving devices – always putting patient care and consideration at the forefront.
David served in the US Army and Air Force Reserves. An avid trap and skeet shooter, he also enjoyed reading, listening to music and appreciated the bagpipes. David was a strong supporter of animal rights and welfare.
David married Greta Nussdorfer on June 22, 1963 in Lansing, MI. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves behind one daughter, Kristin (Patrick Holdsworth), a granddaughter, Holly, and Scooter, the family cat.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton or Marion County Humane Societies. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 9, from 10–12pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.
