Douglas Berry Meadows, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Dea and Betty Meadows.
Doug grew up in Richmond, Indiana, graduating from Richmond High School in 1970. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington and was a dedicated member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, forming lifelong friendships. After Bloomington, Doug earned his MBA from the University of Denver. He began his career at Ford Motor Company in marketing before joining RCA, where he quickly established himself as a video industry leader, serving as president of multiple companies. After many cross-country moves, Doug settled in Zionsville, Indiana to raise his family.
Doug loved sports and was a loyal IU fan, especially basketball. He also enjoyed his Indianapolis Colts. Doug was the highest rated golfer at Richmond High School and enjoyed golfing into retirement. He also loved sailing his boat on Lake George and Eagle Creek. Doug was an avid car enthusiast, owning countless cars throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family and had a lifelong love of camping, hiking and spending time outdoors. Doug travelled extensively out west and took many family vacations, which inspired his daughters’ love of travel. In retirement, Doug spent his time between Indianapolis and Camano Island, Washington. During this time, he volunteered as a SCORE counselor helping entrepreneurs realize their dreams.
Doug will be lovingly remembered for being a loyal friend, humble, dependable, driven, liberal, open-hearted, loving, and above all, kind.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Nicholas; previous spouse, Emma Meadows; daughter, Kelly (Benton) Meadows; granddaughter, Arden; daughter Rebecca (Stuart) Meadows; step-daughter Rachel (Jonathan) Bennett; step-son Nicholas Bennett; siblings Christine Buchholz, Greg (Jane) Meadows, and Gary (Navarre) Meadows. Doug was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Carl Buchholz.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220.
In honor of Doug and his allergy to flowers, please make a memorial donation to the National Park Foundation instead.
