It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Allen Frazer, age 44, on February 24th, 2024, at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on September 3, 1979, in Indianapolis to the late Joseph K. Frazer and the late Lea Ann (Plummer) Sherlock.
Doug graduated from North Central High School in 1997. He worked primarily in retail, warehouse positions and maintenance roles, including at Brookdale Senior Living and other companies.
Doug was a hilarious, incisive storyteller. There was no moment big or small that he couldn’t embellish with sound effects, his sense of humor, and his outrageous sense of justice. He was an incredibly sensitive observer of the world, and he wanted everyone to be treated with kindness and fairness. Doug enjoyed a good steak and a cigar. He loved music and movies and knew hundreds of movie quotes. His family fondly remembers Doug’s stories and elaborate fireworks displays at the family cottage on Lake Shafer. He will be greatly missed.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ryan Frazer; grandparents Joseph E. and Betty Frazer, and Grandfather Harold Plummer.
Doug is survived by his stepmother, Roseanna Frazer; stepsister, Irene Loy; grandmother, Mary Plummer; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Poem from Irene Loy, for Doug:
In another time and land,
you would’ve been the neighborhood wizard, Doug,
focusing all that sensitivity and anger at injustice
into potions,
teas,
salves for aching bones –
You would’ve turned lead into gold, Brother,
And with it, we would’ve purchased kingdoms.
Per Doug’s wishes, there will not be a public memorial service marking his passing. However, later in the year, his close family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association.
We invite those who knew Doug to share fond memories of him in the comments below.
