Douglas Lance Boyer, Jr., 70, passed into the hands of our Lord on November 5, 2020. He resided in Lebanon, Indiana and Punta Gorda, Florida and died after courageously battling a long-time illness.
Born July 11, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Douglas Sr. and Gloria Boyer. Married to Deborah Jean (Benton) in Indianapolis on June 20, 1970. He was a proud graduate of Pike High School. He was the recipient of numerous professional awards and recognitions for his contributions to the machine and tool industry. Doug was always a ready source in aiding newcomers to this highly competitive business. Earlier years saw him as a major participant with the Pike Volunteer Fire Department and Zionsville JCs. Doug was a true entrepreneur having created numerous family-owned and run business ventures with the pinnacle being global successful Press Brake Safety.
Fishing, boating, and hosting annual pig roasts for family and friends were among his numerous hobbies. Yet his love was auto racing. Not only did he enjoy attending and watching, but also founded Boyer/Christy Brothers Racing, a highly competitive team of Kenyon midgets and quarter midget racing machines. This was a true family affair with drivers, mechanics, and support staff consisting of the Boyer/Christy family members.
He is survived by his life-long love of over 50 years, Debbie; children: Brandy Saddlebrook, Jennifer Boyer-Christy (Christopher), and Jason (Kim); grandchildren: Tibet, Gage, Cole, Stone, and Kaylee.
A Day of Celebration will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Flanner Buchanan Funeral Home, 105 West Pine Street, Zionsville, IN. Visitation is 1-3pm with a memorial service commencing at 3:00pm. The 3pm service will be online at https://youtu.be/WWH0r1pSXvI.
