Doug A. Parrett

May 20, 1963 — March 6, 2017

Doug took his last breath on Monday, March the 6th, 2017 with his family present, hand in hand, right by his side. He was a devoted father and husband, whose marriage to his wife, Tracey, was something one would see in a movie. They were best friends, whose bond was unlike anything that could be described by words.

Doug was an honest, humble, family man whose determination seeped into his peers and inspired them to do better. His clever humor would leave people walking away with stomach pain from laughing so hard. He was the kind of man that would take his kids to the jewelry store to help him pick out that special gift for mom. Whether it be for her birthday, Mother's day, or their anniversary. He loved his family beyond the stars, and would do anything for them, as he proved by being on the soccer field, training his kids at 8a.m. in the morning every weekend.

When he wasn't with his kids on the soccer fields, Doug was running with them and making them do Indian runs, to train for their cross country meets, pushing them to their limits, because he knew what they were made of. At night, he would help them with their homework, and read to them before bed, being the perfect example of a smart, disciplined, hardworking, protective and encouraging father.

Doug was not one to complain, and saw his cancer as another “bump in the road” that life dishes out from time to time. He put up a strong and courageous fight that was nothing short of inspiring. With his passing, what is to come is best relayed in the words of his daughter, Brittany.

”Dad, we vow to take care of mom, each other and of course your immaculate lawn. We will keep our yearly, family vacations going with each other and our own families. We were honored to be your kids and know mom feels the same when it came to being your wife. We will keep your memory alive and push ourselves and each other to be the better version of ourselves just the way you did. We love you more than words can even begin to express. A little piece of our hearts left with you and the pain from missing you will never go away, but knowing that you are at peace, gives us some sort of healing. You were one in a million and we will continue to make you proud! We love you pops.” – Brittany Parrett.
