Dorothy Samis

Dorothy Samis, 78, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019.

Dorothy was born in 1941 in East Chicago, Indiana, to John and Bessie Samis, who preceded her in death.   She grew up in the East Chicago Harbor, attended Washington High School and St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where she active in her youth.

Dorothy loved the theater and enjoyed seeing plays and musicals downtown Chicago with family and friends.  She enjoyed cross stitching, crafts, and playing bingo at the nursing home.  She had a love for animals, especially cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Vlahos-Bootz and son-in-law Matthew Bootz, brother Gust Samis (Georgia), cousins James Rozzos (Marie), Tony Rozzos, Dorothy Bafaloukas of Arizona, longtime dear friend Chrisoula Metz, and many other cousins and friends from NW Indiana area.

The family wishes to thank Rosegate Village Nursing Home for their loving care of Dorothy over the last several years.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association at https://www.alz.org/ or the charity of your choice.

Dorothy’s family will be having private services followed by entombment at Washington Park East Cemetery.
