Dorothy Ann Nickel Voth

September 21, 1939 — February 23, 2025

Dorothy Ann Nickel Voth (Dottie) passed peacefully into God’s presence on February 23, 2025, at 11:45pm. Dottie was born on September 21,1939, to John and Birtha (Dick) Nickel in Salem, Oregon, in her grandparents’ home. Birtha died when Dottie was three days old. She was raised by her grandparents David and Sadie Nickel. Her dad, John, went to Biola College in LA, CA where he met Eleanor Cole. They went to Africa as missionaries separately and were married Dec. 12, 1947, in Nigeria. They had 3 daughters - Joy, Carol, and Joanne.

Dottie was saved at age 9 in the after-school JOY Club at a friend’s home. She was baptized at age 12 at Kingwood Bible Church.

After high school, Dottie went to Biola for a short time. She met Wes Voth at Fountain Ave. Baptist Church, while he was a student at UCLA. They were married at the church on July 30,1960.

Wes worked for the USDA, and they lived in Southern CA, Santa Ana and Tustin. While living in Santa Ana, John was born, and Debbie was born in Tustin. When Debbie was a baby, they moved to Glendale where Mark was born, in Hollywood. Wes then worked for the FDA.

In 1968, the FDA transferred him to the Philadelphia, PA office and they moved to Willingboro, NJ, 20 miles north of Philly.

They were members of First Baptist Church of Willingboro for more than 50 years. While at First Baptist, Dottie taught Sunday School, Primary Church and Vacation Bible School. She also sang in the choir, worked in the church library, nursery, hospitality committee, funeral luncheon committee and was active in Keenagers.

She enjoyed bus trips with the Keenagers and America’s Keswick. She enjoyed monthly hymn sings and concerts at Keswick. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework, cooking, baking and reading.

In November of 2022, they moved to Noblesville, IN and lived happily ever after, until the Lord took her home. Now she lives “happier”.

Dottie is preceded in death by her parents John and Birtha Nickel, her stepmother Eleanor, and her husband Wesley Voth and two unborn great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three sisters and children, son John Voth (Noni), daughter Debbie Harner (Dean), and son Mark Voth (Sherry), eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren (plus two on the way).
