Our beautiful, beloved Mother, Dorothy Mae Short gained her angel wings on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the age of 78. Dorothy was born on July 14, 1943 in Manchester, KY.
Dorothy worked as an insulation installer for over 20 years. Most importantly she was a terrific mother and grandmother. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Dorothy knew that her family was her life. There was never a day that she did not brag about her children or grandchildren. All her family would tell you that there was no safer place than her house. She was fiercely protective of the people she loved, and everyone knew not to mess with her “babies.”
She actually would tell you that she did not like to cook, but her “fried taters” were always requested by anyone who visited. She always had an open door and no matter how many times you were “kicked out”, you were always welcomed back. When you would pull up to her home, you would be greeted by her beautiful flowers as she loved being surrounded with flowers.
Dorothy loved Country Music. One of her favorite artists was Elvis Presley. One of her favorite trips was to Memphis Tennessee to tour Graceland. She also loved to watch Westerns. Her favorites to watch were Cheyenne and Matt Dillon.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Harold Short, her parents, Bammer Chadwick and Elijhue (Boonie) Stevens, her brothers Kenneth “Frog” Roberts and Edward Roberts, granddaughter Samantha Zoderer, great grandsons Joshua Olsen and Brayden Wright, sons-in-law Danny Patterson, Frank Zoderer and Tony Simons. She is survived by her children, Donna (Ed) Craig, Carolyn Patterson, Ruby Zoderer, Judy Simons, Harold “Jr” (Michelle) Short, Phyllis (Michele) Clark, and Donny (Janet) Short, her friend and companion, Dan Spence, one sister Judy Dorsey of Ohio and brother Paul Roberts Southwood of Lexington, KY. Dorothy had 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
