Dorothy Lucille Bindhamer, 88, of Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 16, 2021. She was born on July 9, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Donald and Radonna (Graham) Howard. Dorothy was a 1951 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she met the love of her life, Virgil Dean Bindhamer. They were married on June 24, 1951 and celebrated 51 years of marriage before he passed away.
Dorothy enjoyed dancing all her life, being with her family boating and swimming. Meeting with her high school and longtime friends once a month along with her wonderful family visits and trips together. She lived at Sweetwater Lake from 1981-2000 and sold real estate there.
She is survived by her loving children, Brad Bindhamer and Connie (Brian) Dean; grandchildren, Abby (Josh) Newport and Matthew (Sara) Dean; great grandchildren, Jordan and Tessa Newport and Britton and Patrick Dean. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings, Linda Weber and Larry Howard.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband; and daughter-in-law, Janet Skaggs.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 12-1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with a funeral service immediately following. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Amyloidosis Support Group.
