Dorothy Jane Chaplin, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
She was born on December 16, 1925 in New Albany, IN to the late Gilbert Lynn and Merle L. (Ryder) Harmon. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and worked for 44 years as an Executive Secretary for Indiana Bell, retiring in 1987. Dorothy was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a 75 year member of the O.E.S. Brookside Chapter. She was also an organist and pianist and shared her gift as a ministry at Warren Hill Christian Church and Centenary Christian Church. Dorothy enjoyed traveling across the US on the back of a motorcycle with her husband, but she was most content when family would come to visit her at her winter home in Port Richey, FL.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Constance (Stephen) Stillson and Teresa (John) Angelicchio; grandchildren, Joel Stillson, Krista Stillson, Natalie Angelicchio; and sister, Minnie Belden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Robert Chaplin; and granddaughter, Elizabeth ‘Liza’ Angelicchio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 12:30-2:30pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following. Entombment will follow the services in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Be the Match or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
