Dorothy Elizabeth Walker

Dorothy Elizabeth Walker, 98, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 18, 2017. She was born on March 23, 1918 in Ashley, IN to the late Elmer R. and Dessie A. (Ritter) Skelly. Dorothy was the valedictorian of Fremont High School, Class of 1936. She attended Indiana University for a year before meeting and marrying her husband, Thomas H. Walker in 1941; they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in 2003. Dorothy was the owner of Dorothy Walker Realty in Indianapolis for many years. She also owned and operated Linwood Furniture Store and was a Developer for many eastside neighborhoods. Following her retirement in 1978, she enjoyed investing in the stock market and wintering in West Palm Beach, FL. Dorothy was also a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Thomas David Walker and Kathleen Barbara (Stephen) Priller; 4 grandchildren, Shannon (Stephen) Flynn, Shawn (Larry) Alvey, Tracey Walker, John Walker; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Velma Hantz and Mildred Champion.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 1pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the services, also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miracle Place or the Riley Foundation. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
