Dorothy E. "Dot" Manley

Carmel, Indiana

Dorothy E. “Dot” Manley, 100, of Carmel, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Dot was born April 14, 1918 in Susquehanna, PA to the late Frank and Ella Chapman. She graduated from Mansfield State Teachers College and spent the early years of her career at St. Andrew’s Elementary School in Indianapolis, before moving to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. She loved teaching and always enjoyed seeing her former students around town. 

Dot was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, and a wonderful grandmother.

Dot was the widow of Thomas F. Manley. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Collins; grandchildren, Patrick (wife, Dina) Collins, Megan Collins, and Katie Collins; great grandchildren, Kevin Collins, Ben Collins, and Jack Dallin. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ed Chapman, Peg Orsley, and Helen McGuane.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Monday, September 24 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, where family and friends are invited to gather from 9:00 am until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Manley Memorial Scholarship Fund at Scecina High School, 5000 Nowland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46201.
