Dorothy “Dottie” Bryant, 95, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was born on February 11, 1927, in Golden, Mississippi, to parents, Thomas L. and Floy L. (Keahey) Hale.
Dorothy worked in production at Western Electric until she retired in 1982. She was a member of the Corinthian Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Smyrna Shrine Guild, and the Daughters of the Nile. She grew up in Dyess, Arkansas and told stories about Johnny Cash and picking cotton as a kid.
Dottie loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She traveled extensively with her husband and family. She loved visiting family in Texas and vacationing in Florida. Dottie would collect seashells with her sister and make gifts with them. After retirement, she enjoyed many day trips with her husband and friends. Dottie spent many years caring for her husband as his health declined. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters.
Dottie is survived by her step-daughters, Patty Chalmers and Pam (Kenny) Eubanks; sister Frances Stewart; grandchildren, Alex (Jonelle) Chalmers, Brittany (Wipula) Wimalasiri, Christin (Yasser) Mohamed; great-grandchildren, Safy Mohamed, Matilda Chalmers, Kehara Wimalasiri; and lots of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. and Floy L. (Keahey) Hale; husband, Richard O. Bryant; son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Chalmers; and siblings, Julene, Clinton, Rachel, Syble, Lewis, Mary, Marvis, and Tommy.
Visitation for Dottie will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 10am-12pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East – 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, with funeral services immediately following at 12pm. Her great-nephew Taylor Bell will be officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation, or the Gleaners Food Bank.
