Dorothy Mae Benge, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 7, 2024. Dorothy was born May 18, 1929, and was the daughter of James Franklin and Lula Ann Foster.
Dorothy was raised in Petersburg, Indiana. In her younger years she worked for Judge S. Hugh Dillon. She then moved to Indianapolis where she worked at American Art Clay and met her husband, Elza Benge. They were married for over fifty years. Dorothy was a homemaker, mother, and served on local church boards and ministries. She was known for her hospitality and cooking.
Survivors include her three children Don (Judy Held) Benge, Grover (Becky Ashley) Benge, Gloria (Dale) Foster and grandson Josiah Foster, and sister Mary Small.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Elza Benge; five brothers Claude, George, Dwayne, James and Luther Foster; and six sisters Clyde Byrd, Edith (Susie) McCain, Lorena Fulcher, Anabelle Sheetz, Allen Mikels and Getty Daffron.
Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday January 10, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway, and 11-12 Thursday January 11, with funeral starting at noon. Burial at West Ridge Park Cemetery will follow.
