Dorothy Ann "Dot" Swan Cutter

September 14, 1932 — December 9, 2018

Carmel, Indiana

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Swan Cutter died on December 9th 2018. Dot was born in New York City, NY on September 14th 1932 as a foundling. She, although abandoned, was always grateful to have been placed where she would be found… such as a park bench in a heavily trafficked area. In 1936 she was adopted by her loving parents Stewart Duffield Swan and Elmeda (Cuddeback) Swan. This meant that she inherited a wonderful family – Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins – who accepted her with open arms. She grew up in Larchmont, NY and graduated from Syracuse University in 1954 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She received her Master Degree from Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT in 1971.

While at Syracuse she met her husband, Arthur F. Cutter, Jr. They were married at Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church on December 18th 1954. He predeceased her in January of 2016 after 61 years.

Dot leaves behind her loving and cherished family; daughter, Victoria L. Cutter, Indianapolis; sons, James D. (Sandra) Cutter, Des Moines, IA; and Arthur F. III (Margaret) Cutter, Fairfield, CT; two granddaughters, Julia (Steve) Slaydon and Sarah Cutter; and one great granddaughter, Emma Slaydon.

In accordance with her wishes, in lieu of local calling hours or a service, there will be a graveside committal service for both Art and Dot at New Cemetery, Ashburnham, MA, at the convenience of the family.

Donations in her name may be made to a charity of your choice or to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 1402 West Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032 where they were members for over 20 years.

Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
