Dorothy Ann Anderson was born March 27, 1957 in Gary, IN to David Anderson and Luella Jackson. She attended Roosevelt High School in Gary.  Dot began working for the Gary Community School Corporation in 1992 where she retired in 2014.

Dot was a help to so many with her encouragement, prayers, love, and advice.  Most of us in this room have felt the lasting love and care of our beloved Dot.

She is survived by her one and only son Robert Sharp, three daughters Bonnie Sharp, La’Tonda Sharp, and La’Kema (Michal) Gaines. Two sisters Martha and Susan Anderson, three brothers Willie Mills(Nora Lee), Willie(Gail)Anderson, and Kevin Brown. Her very special childhood friend Lisa Davis. A host of nieces, nephews, grand, and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents David and Luella. Brothers Freddie, David, Jessie, Nathaniel, and William.

Dorothy will truly be missed; we know her spirit is smiling and rejoicing. “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8(NKJV)

Broken Chain, by Ron Tranmer

We never knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly.

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
