Doris May Gabonay

Doris May Gabonay, 94, of Indianapolis, IN died on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home. She was born on October 1, 1922 in Springfield, MO to the late Sherwood and Jetta (Hanson) Schmill.

Doris was a very active member of Good Shephard Catholic Church where she was involved in several ministries. She was also a member of the Ave Maria Guild, Altar Society and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved to play cards, especially canasta and euchre, she belonged to several card clubs.

She is survived by her children, Judy Gillespie, Kathy (Pat) Cobb, Jeanne Gabonay and David Gabonay; sister, Thelma Rutledge and sister-in-law, Julie Gaboney; 6 grand-children and 13 great grand-children; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Edward Gabonay; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Holmes and son-in-law, Bill Gillespie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Good Shephard Catholic Church, 2905 Carson Ave., Indianapolis with a Rosary Service to take place at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Mrs. Gabonay may be made to either Good Shephard Catholic Church or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Good Shephard. Envelopes will be available at the church.
