Doris M. Kiefer Parks

Doris M. Kiefer Parks, 91 of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Doris was born May 5, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Walter and Marie Martindale. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and building a caring community of friends around her. She was a wonderful cook and anchored many joyful memories of those around her with the treasures she brought forth from her kitchen. It is unlikely that there has ever been a more generous soul. There was simply nothing that she would not do for any one, even a stranger.

Doris was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Carmel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 4 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, with calling at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.

Doris is survived by her sons, Dick (wife, Carol) Kiefer and Don W Kiefer; grandchildren, Jim (wife, Susan) Kiefer, Bridgette (husband, Mike) Bumpas, Kristin (husband, Daniel) Fuller, David (wife, Lindsay) Kiefer, and Todd (wife, Jill) Kiefer; great grandchildren, Kaitlin Brunett, Kacey Brunett, Sarah Kiefer, Mason Kiefer, Stephen Kiefer, and Nathan Kiefer. She was preceded in death by her first husband Donald E Kiefer and by her second husband, Evan Parks. Evan’s family joined hers, bringing together his children, Bob (wife, Pat) Parks, Sherry (husband, Sheldon) Schrager; grandchildren, Julianne Jarrell, Angela (husband, Noel) Parks/Pinero, Erin (husband, Tim), Flick, Keelin (husband, Brad) Smith, Jeffrey (wife, Naomi) Schrager, Jodie (husband, Jared) Jerome; and his 19 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean (husband, Ralph) Pennington and is survived by Jean’s children, Diane (husband, William) LaFata and Donna Wixson.
