Donna Mae Johnston

Donna Mae Johnston, 76, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on October 27th.

Donna was born on October 22nd, 1943 to Kenneth and Mary (Othote) Lantigua in Boston, Massachusetts. After relocating with her family to Indiana, she graduated from Crown Point High School in 1961, and worked at The May Department Stores Company.

In 1965, she met Wally Johnston, they wed in 1966 and had two children, Derrick and David.

Together Donna and Wally established Fashion Optical, a retail eyewear business in Highland which had a successful 42 year run serving Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Donna served as the business manager and frame stylist.

After retirement in 2010, Donna loved spending time with her grandchildren and close family and friends. She had a beautiful spirit and was open to new people and new adventures, traveling to places such as Hawaii and Alaska with her best friend JoAnn and others. With Wally she logged thousands of miles traveling by car across America. Always an optimist, she cherished every single day.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sister Mary Deering. She is survived by her sisters Beverley (James) Topa and Gail (Howard) Alexander, sons Derrick (Jill) Johnston and David Johnston, grandsons Grant Johnston and Gavin Johnston, loving family Arielle, Crae and Blythe Kunkleman, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 1-2pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis. Funeral services will begin there at 2pm.
