Donald L. Rockey, M.D., 69, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, from complications of Polycystic Kidney Disease on November 7th, 2021. He was born July 23rd, 1952, in Indianapolis to parents Louis and Exene (Tucker) Rockey.
Don grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Franklin Central High school in 1970.
On May 26th, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Terry Davis. They shared 49 wonderful years together.
Don continued his education at Butler University and received his doctorate degree from Indiana University School of Medicine.
He practiced medicine for over 40 years and selflessly served his community as a family physician with a private practice in Wanamaker for over 35 years.
Don was truly loving, full of wit and a good sense of humor, a faithful family man, and devoted physician. He and his wife Terry loved to travel and took many family vacations all around the country. Don enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and golfing whenever he got the chance. He was a long-standing elder and church choir member at his family church, Southminster Presbyterian. He loved music and loved to sing. Above all, Don adored spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Terry; his children Jason (Kathy), Corey (Amanda), and Daniel (Cassidy); his father Louis (Phyllis) Rockey; and 11 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Exene Rockey.
Visitation for Don will be Friday, November 12th from 4-8pm at Southminster Presbyterian Church (9950 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46239). Additional visitation at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Saturday, November 13th from 10-11am. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Don will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery following the services on Saturday.
